Job summary

Qualifications

• Certification as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant.
• Current license/registration with Maryland State Board for NP or PA.

Responsibilities

• Assumes responsibility for initial evaluation and treatment of patients.
• Performs initial history and physical with documentation.
• Writes standard orders in accordance with hospital policy.
• Discusses findings with attending physician and nursing staff.
• Evaluates patient progress and adjusts treatment as needed.
• Evaluates nursing, medical, social and educational needs of patients.
• Initiates referrals to appropriate departments and community resources.
• Writes progress notes documenting patient progress and treatment plan.
• Documents results of technical procedures and reports abnormal findings to physicians.
• Participates in nursing/hospital performance improvement initiatives.
