Responsibilities

• Assists in initial evaluation and treatment of admitted surgical patients.
• Performs admission history and physical with documentation.
• Writes orders within delegation agreements.
• Discusses findings with attending physician and nursing staff.
• Evaluates patient progress and modifies treatment in collaboration with the attending physician.
• Makes rounds on assigned patients to assess medical, social and educational needs.
• Initiates referrals to ancillary departments and community resources.
• Documents progress notes and treatment plans daily.
• Maintains communication with health team and discharge planning.
• Pursues ongoing education and mandatory inservice training.
