Job summary

University of Chicago Medicine seeks an Ambulatory Medication Access Coordinator to manage prior authorizations and insurance workflows for high-cost take-home medications in Ambulatory Clinics. You will handle inbound/outbound calls, screen patients for payment options, and collaborate with pharmacists and clinic staff to optimize reimbursement and continuity of care.

Qualifications

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree required.
• Current or eligibility for Illinois Pharmacy Technician licensure.
• 3–5 years of pharmacy technician experience in retail.
• Proficient with word processing, databases and spreadsheets.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Improve patient service and maximize revenue via prior authorization for high-cost meds.
• Communicate with patients to verify insurance, benefits and financial options.
• Enroll patients in assistance programs and coordinate with social services.
• Enter patient data into tracking forms and software.
• Support clinic workflow by preventing therapy interruptions due to insurance issues.
