Job summary

UVA Community Health is seeking a Medical Lab Scientist to perform patient and QC testing across ambulatory offices in Gainesville and Warrenton. The role requires travel between both locations, with duties including instrument maintenance and quality control procedures.

The incumbent will ensure timely reporting of results, maintain supplies, and uphold safety and compliance standards within a non-exempt, full-time laboratory environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in medical technology or related field; NAACLS MLS preferred.
• ASCP or AMT-MT certification required or must obtain within 18 months.
• Licensure as listed (BB, C, H, MT/MLS, M, MB) required.
• 1 year of experience preferred but not required.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and quality control procedures.

Responsibilities

• Perform patient and QC testing and report results according to policy.
• Maintain inventories and ensure proper storage of reagents and supplies.
• Monitor instrument performance and troubleshoot malfunctions; request service when needed.
• Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory guidelines; contribute to performance improvement.
