Job summary

UCSF Health is seeking a Medical Assistant to support patient care in a fast-paced Ambulatory Services setting across UCSF sites. Under supervision, you will assist with exams, patient flow, and front/back office duties including scheduling, insurance verification, and authorizations.

Ideal candidates have MA certification, CPR, strong computer skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with physicians and patients.

Qualifications

• Certification from an approved Medical Assistant program or equivalent education and experience.
• Current CPR certification.
• Knowledge of insurance verification and authorizations.
• Ability to sit at a computer terminal for extended periods; strong Word/Excel skills.

Responsibilities

• Monitors patient flow and assists with vitals, rooming, and documentation.
• Assist nurses and providers in exams and prep for procedures.
• Handle front and back office tasks including scheduling and referrals.
• Maintain clean, stocked exam rooms and manage supplies.
• Lead/participate in practice councils and process improvements.
