Job summary

UCSF Health is seeking a Hospital Assistant II to assist in delivering care to patients in ambulatory clinics. Responsibilities include patient flow management, vitals collection, and basic testing.

The role supports multiple physicians and requires collaboration with nurses and providers. The candidate will perform front- and back-office tasks, coordinate referrals and authorizations, and ensure compliance with infection control and privacy policies.

Qualifications

• Current American Heart Association CPR certification.
• Minimum of one year of recent experience working in a busy health care environment.

Responsibilities

• Monitor patient flow in and out of the clinic.
• Obtain patients’ vital signs, height, weight, pain screening, and documentation of chief complaints, and may room patients.
• Utilize ApeX for documentation within the scope of practice of a Medical Assistant.
• Assist nurses and providers in preparation for exams and/or equipment, such as biopsy/PAP.
• Update HCM banner. Carry out orders, provide AVS, schedule follow-up, and discharge patients.
• Obtain specimens and perform simple Point of Care Testing as directed, including QA/QC and EKGs.
• Administer injectable vaccines after verification of medication and dose with the provider immediately prior to vaccine administration.
