Job summary

Rush University Medical Center in Chicago is seeking a Medical Assistant for the River North clinic. This role supports physicians, mid-level practitioners and nurses in ambulatory care, manages patient flow, and prepares exam rooms with basic procedures.

Responsibilities include injections, immunizations, chart maintenance, scheduling, and adherence to Rush policies. A high school diploma, MA certification, CPR, and strong communication/organizational skills are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Certification as Medical Assistant by AAMA/AMT/NCCT/NAHP/AAH or NHA required upon hire.
• Rush Medical Assistant Apprenticeship graduates must obtain certification within six months of hire.
• Current CPR certification required on start date.
• Computer skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Excellent organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates and maintains organized patient flow.
• Performs patient intake: vital signs, history, allergies, medications.
• Prepares patient for exam and assists with procedures.
• Reviews appointment schedules and ensures all charts are available.
• Performs basic lab testing, phlebotomy and EKGs.
• Administers immunizations as ordered by Physician.
• Maintains exam rooms and supplies; cleans and stocks.
• Documents care in the electronic medical record.
• Assists with scheduling tests and follow-up appointments.
• Ensures compliance with Joint Commission standards.
