Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health in Burlington, MA is seeking a Medical Assistant to support ambulatory care teams. Under supervision of licensed providers, the MA performs direct patient care, assists with procedures, and helps keep exam rooms clean and stocked.

Responsibilities include taking vital signs, documenting in the EMR, coordinating scheduling, and communicating with patients and team to ensure smooth, efficient visits. BLS and MA training preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant training program preferred.
• 0-1 years of related patient care experience preferred or associate's degree or higher in lieu of MA experience.

Responsibilities

• Greet, room, and prepare patients for visits; take and document vital signs and intake information
• Support clinical procedures (e.g., EKGs, specimen collection, point-of-care testing)
• Maintain clean, stocked, and ready exam rooms throughout the day
• Ensure accurate documentation in the EMR per clinical guidelines
• May assist with scheduling, check-in, phone coverage, referrals, and patient instructions as needed
• Communicates effectively with providers, patients and team members about delays, appointment needs, or follow-ups
• Follow all assigned workflows, safety protocols, infection control standards and clinical policies and department guidelines.
• Support operational flow and provider efficiency by anticipating needs and adjusting to same-day changes
• Escort patients to labs or ancillary services, as needed
• May participate in specialized clinical workflows (e.g., prescription refills, prior authorizations, high-level disinfection)
