Brown University Health is seeking a Medical Assistant to support the clinical team in an ambulatory setting at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence. The role includes direct patient care, preparing patients for visits, and performing basic tests under supervision.

You will update the EMR, coordinate follow-up care, manage scheduling, and help maintain exam rooms while upholding infection control and patient confidentiality standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Graduate of Medical Assistant training program of 9 months or longer, or a minimum of 3 years of Medical Assistant experience in a comparable setting
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• 3 years of Medical Assistant experience in an ambulatory setting preferred
• EMR and appointment scheduling experience preferred
• Strong communication, computer, organizational, and patient-care skills
• Ability to remain calm and effective in emergency situations

Responsabilités

• Prepare patients for visits, obtain vital signs and medical histories
• Perform medication reconciliation
• Assist with examinations and procedures
• Complete services such as EKGs, blood pressure checks, pulse oximetry, and Hgb A1-C testing
• Update the EMR and track lab results and referrals
• Coordinate follow-up care and schedule appointments and tests
• Obtain prior authorizations
• Maintain exam rooms and supplies
• Assist with general office duties
• Ensure patient confidentiality, safety, infection control, and compliance with policies and procedures
