Job summary

Sentara Healthcare Inc. seeks a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in an ambulatory clinic to support providers and registered nurses, room patients, collect health information, and administer medications and immunizations within scope.

You will measure vital signs, collect specimens, assist with examinations, educate patients, and help manage patient flow while documenting in the EHR. Current LPN license and NCLEX-PN; BLS; 1–2 years ambulatory experience preferred; full-time position with

Qualifications

Completion of an accredited practical nursing program leading to LPN/LVN eligibility.
A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
Experience in an ambulatory or physician practice setting is preferred.
Current, unencumbered state LPN/LVN license and NCLEX-PN.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.

Responsibilities

Assists providers and RNs in delivering direct patient care in the clinic setting.
Rooms patients and records health information in the EHR.
Adminsisters medications and immunizations within the LPN scope.
Collects blood specimens and performs simple diagnostic tests.
Prepares patients and treatment rooms and assists with examinations and procedures.
Provides patient education and follow-up instructions within scope.
Supports patient flow and processes messages and refill requests under provider direction.
Directs the day-to-day work of medical assistants and aides.
