Job summary

University Hospitals is seeking an Instrument Processing Tech - Ambulatory Float to perform QA/maintenance on processing equipment, manage inventory, and ensure compliant sterilization and distribution of reusable devices. This traveling role supports UH locations and adheres to PHI requirements.

The ideal candidate has a GED, experience in instrument processing, strong communication skills, and the ability to manage records and collaborate across departments.

Qualifications

• High School Equivalent / GED is required.
• Previous instrument processing experience is preferred.
• Ability to maintain accurate records and logs.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

• Performs quality assurance checks and maintenance for automated processing equipment and documents in tracking logs.
• Maintains inventory volumes, expiration dates and orders supplies.
• Maintains accurate logs for processing room requirements and adheres to policies.
• Identifies single-use equipment or damage and communicates with service line.
• Performs leak testing and decontamination; prepares equipment for HL disinfection or sterilization.
• Sorts, labels, packages and inventories reusable equipment for distribution and charge back totals.
• Participates as a team player and supports Ambulatory Safety meetings.
• Maintains positive relationships with patients, customers, and co-workers.
