Join us at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center as an Ambulatory Clinical Pharmacy Specialist - Obesity/Weight Management. This role offers a full-time, day shift position, working Monday to Friday, within a dynamic healthcare environment.

Job Summary

The Clinical Pharmacy Specialist leads in clinical pharmacy practice within specific or multiple clinical areas, providing comprehensive medication management services. They utilize advanced clinical skills to deliver evidence-based, safe, and cost-effective drug therapy, aiming for optimal patient outcomes. The role includes serving as a resource for pharmacy staff, patients, and other healthcare professionals, and participating in developing clinical guidelines, protocols, and professional development activities.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Practice pharmacy in accordance with legal and departmental standards, maintaining necessary credentials.
  • Monitor patients in designated units, including data collection, interpretation of lab results, physical assessments, and patient interviews.
  • Develop and improve ambulatory pharmacy programs, including drug use evaluations and clinic management.
  • Initiate, adjust, and monitor drug therapy under protocol, based on patient assessments and medical records review.
  • Document clinical interventions promptly in the electronic health record.
  • Coordinate laboratory monitoring related to drug therapy.
  • Provide patient monitoring to evaluate outcomes, drug utilization, and minimize adverse effects.
  • Coordinate continuing education for medical and nursing staff and orient new employees.
  • Precept pharmacy residents, students, and contribute to staff development.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy required; Doctoral degree preferred.
  • Massachusetts Pharmacist license required.
  • 1-3 years of relevant experience required.
  • Completion of PGY1 residency or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to obtain certification (CSP, BCPS, BCACP) within 18 months.
Preferred Qualifications
  • PGY2 residency or 5+ years of clinical experience.
  • Knowledge of complex/chronic diseases and therapies across various specialties.
