Job Responsibilities

Perform duties related to patient care and treatment as directed by attending providers in an outpatient clinic setting. Provide clerical and clinical support to medical staff.

Minimum Qualifications
Hired prior to March 3, 2024
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Graduate of a Medical Assistant Program or Med Ed Program, or one year of clinical experience.
  • West Virginia state criminal background check, and federal check if applicable, for DHHR regulated area.
  • Obtain BLS certification within six months.
Hired on or after March 3, 2024
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Graduate of a Medical Assistant Program or Med Ed Program, or one year of clinical experience.
  • West Virginia state criminal background check, and federal check if applicable, for DHHR regulated area.
  • Obtain BLS certification within 30 days of hire.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Registration or Certification.
  • One-year experience as a Medical Assistant or in patient care.
Core Duties and Responsibilities

Provide support to medical staff to meet patient needs and ensure efficient outpatient operations. Assist providers with requisitions, forms, and test result management. Administer medication under supervision, perform tests, document specimens, and report results. Schedule appointments, assist with medical records, monitor communication systems, and support quality assurance and inventory management. Assist with patient registration, billing, and appointment coordination. Maintain a clean and safe environment, and adhere to safety protocols.

Physical Requirements
  • Must have strength and stamina to lift, move, and carry materials weighing 40+ lbs, and stand or walk for 4 to 12 hours per day.
Work Environment
  • Performed in a clinical outpatient setting with exposure to biohazards and communicable diseases. Must respond quickly to varying demands.
