Job Responsibilities
- Perform duties related to patient care and treatment as directed by attending providers in an outpatient clinic setting.
- Provide clerical and clinical support to medical staff in the assigned unit.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Graduate of a Medical Assistant Program OR graduate of the Med Ed Program OR one year of clinical experience.
- West Virginia state criminal background check, and federal check if applicable, required for DHHR regulated area.
- Obtain certification in Basic Life Support within six (6) months.

- Graduate of a Medical Assistant Program OR graduate of the Med Ed Program OR one year of clinical experience.

Preferred Qualifications
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:
- Registration or Certification.
Experience
- One-year experience as a Medical Assistant or in patient care.
Core Duties and Responsibilities
The following are general duties; other responsibilities may be assigned:
- Support medical staff to meet patient needs and ensure efficient outpatient unit operation.
- Assist providers with requisitions, forms, and test result availability; support medical office visits.
- Administer prescribed medication under supervision.
- Perform tests and examinations of specimens.
- Obtain and document patient specimens.
- Report test results to medical providers.
- Perform POCT tests and maintain quality control after training.
- Schedule additional tests as needed.
- Act as a chaperone during examinations.
- Ensure medical records and test results are available and complete.
- Monitor nurse call system and relay information appropriately.
- Assist and provide information to patients, families, and visitors.
- Participate in Quality Assurance programs.
- Generate patient charge data.
- Maintain inventory of supplies and equipment.
- Assist with scheduling and registration tasks.
- Support administrative duties such as deposits, correspondence, and mailing.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and move materials weighing 40+ lbs, and stand or walk for long periods.
Working Environment
- Work in a clinical outpatient environment with exposure to biohazards and communicable diseases.
- Respond quickly to varying demands from providers and patients.
Additional Details
- 40 hours per week, non-exempt position.
