Responsibilities

• Process incoming referrals by verifying completeness, accuracy, and payer requirements prior to scheduling approval.
• Conduct insurance eligibility and benefit verification, including deductible, copay, and authorization requirements.
• Obtain insurance authorizations as required.
• Communicate effectively with patients, clinics, and referring providers to confirm appointment details and resolve access-related issues.
• Accurately document all actions taken within the EMR, tracking systems, and payer portals to maintain transparency and compliance.
• Collaborate with the Lead Ambulatory Access Coordinator and peers to ensure daily workloads and turnaround expectations satisfied.
• Monitor and follow up on pending authorizations and referrals to prevent delays in patient care.
• Maintain knowledge of payer guidelines, departmental policies, and changes in authorization requirements.
• Support departmental initiatives related to efficiency, quality, and patient satisfaction.
• Protect patient confidentiality and ensure compliance with HIPAA and organizational standards.
