Job summary

Citrus County Government seeks a Transport Firefighter/EMT to support the Countywide Fire Rescue and Emergency Services program. The role emphasizes patient care advocacy, emergency medical responses, fire suppression, and disaster readiness, with a 24/48 shift schedule.

The incumbent will drive county vehicles, respond to calls, assist Paramedics, evaluate scenes, initiate basic life support, and provide medical treatment to victims and personnel on site. Training and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• Advocate for patient care as part of the EMS team.
• Must respond to emergencies and drive safely.
• Reads maps and navigates to emergency sites as needed.

Responsibilities

• Drives and operates a county vehicle and follows safety policies.
• Responds to emergency calls relayed by dispatchers and drives ambulance to sites.
• Observes Paramedics, receives instructions, and assists in medical care.
• Evaluates scene on arrival, determines illness/injury, and assesses patient status.
• Initiates basic life support and provides care to victims and personnel at the scene.
