Job summary

AppleOne Employment Services is seeking a detail-oriented Pre Biller/Medical Intake Coordinator to support a healthcare transportation team. This role focuses on insurance verification, ambulance transport documentation review, billing compliance, and claim preparation.

Ideal candidates will have medical billing knowledge, familiarity with Medicare and Medi-Cal/Medicaid, HIPAA compliance, and strong data entry skills.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 1-3 years medical billing experience preferred.
• Experience with insurance verification and eligibility review.
• Knowledge of Medicare, Medi-Cal/Medicaid, and commercial insurance plans.
• Strong computer, data entry, and documentation review skills.
• Professional communication and customer service abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Working knowledge of HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality requirements.

Responsibilities

• Review ambulance patient care reports (PCRs) for completeness and accuracy.
• Verify insurance eligibility, benefits, and coverage requirements.
• Validate patient demographics and transport information.
• Review medical necessity documentation for ambulance transports.
• Identify, investigate, and correct missing or inaccurate billing information.
• Review ICD-10, HCPCS, and ambulance transport coding information.
• Obtain physician certifications and supporting documentation when required.
• Follow up with facilities, dispatch personnel, and field staff for missing records.
• Maintain accurate patient and authorization records.
• Ensure compliance with Medicare, Medi-Cal, HIPAA, and insurance billing regulations.
• Prepare accurate claims for submission and reimbursement processing.
• Support billing operations by reducing denials and improving claim accuracy.
