Qualifications

• High School Diploma; some college preferred.
• Two years of experience in medical billing, collections, or accounts receivable, preferably in ambulance medical services.
• Working knowledge of medical billing processes, including Medicare Part B Ambulance Fee Schedule and insurance policies.
• Familiarity with medical coding (ICD-10, CPT) and revenue cycle preferred.
• Excellent computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and billing software (e.g., Zoll Billing, Waystar).
• Self-starter with the ability to work under general supervision and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication and negotiation skills to handle sensitive financial discussions.

Responsibilities

• Data entry for processing collections from correct pay source.
• Follow up on unpaid or denied claims with insurers and patients.
• Coordinate with billing team for accurate claim submission and Medicare/Medicaid compliance.
• Negotiate payment plans with patients.
• Verify patient insurance coverage and eligibility.
• Maintain detailed records in billing software.
• Process return mail and perform skip tracing as needed.
• Prepare reports on collections performance and outstanding accounts.
