Job summary

LAZ Parking is hiring a Porter/Ambassador to welcome customers and keep the parking facility running smoothly in Detroit. This full-time role includes greeting guests, assisting in lobbies and lanes, and handling basic cashiering in the parking revenue control system.

Ideal candidates are energetic, reliable, and able to work with little supervision. Strong customer service and communication skills, plus willingness to work at multiple locations, are essential for success.

Responsibilities

  • Greet customers by name and resolve issues promptly.
  • Assist customers in lobbies, lanes, and parking office; direct traffic.
  • Maintain premier customer satisfaction with a friendly demeanor.
  • Enter accounts in the parking revenue control system.
  • Assist with cashiering functions as needed.
  • Oversee maintenance of the garage and equipment.
  • Repair malfunctioning parking equipment as needed.
  • Complete other related duties as assigned.

Position Details

Title: Porter/ Ambassador

Hours: Mon-Fri FT 7am-3:30pm

Pay: $17.25/hour

The Spirit of the Position

The Ambassador greets and creates a welcoming atmosphere for our customers and clients.

Employee Referral Program
  • $50 for a hired PT referral
  • $100 for a hired FT referral
  • $250 for any referral in good standing after 90 days.

The requirements are that the candidate must put the employee's name on their application OR provide the employee's name that referred at the time of interview.

What will I do?
  • Greet customer by name, be responsive and timely with correspondence and problem resolution, and display a caring attitude, develop a rapport with the customer base.
  • Assist customers in lobbies, lanes, and in the parking office; help direct traffic.
  • Promote good customer relations by consistently providing premier customer satisfaction with a friendly demeanor, can-do attitude.
  • Add/delete accounts, and key in required information from monthly applications in the parking revenue control system.
  • Assist with cashiering functions as needed.
  • Oversee general maintenance of the garage - sweeping, wiping down surfaces and equipment, emptying trash, picking up trash, changing light bulbs, etc.
  • Maintain and repair any malfunctioning parking equipment to ensure appropriate access to customers.
  • Complete other related duties as assigned.
Education
  • High school diploma or GED preferred but not required.
Experience
  • Strong customer service experience.
  • Cash handling experience is preferred but not required.
  • Parking industry experience is preferred but not required.
Skills
  • Willingness to be flexible, work multiple facility locations.
  • Ability to handle challenging and at times, emotionally charged situations.
  • Ability to speak, read, and comprehend the English language.
  • Must be able to make decisions independently and stay firm on decisions made (not easily persuaded).
Physical Demands
  • Willingness to work in the elements - heat, wind, snow, rain, etc.
  • Ability to lift, push and pull at least 10 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, walk and run for extended periods of time.
  • Ability bend, stoop, squat and lift frequently throughout a shift.
