Job summary

Amazon Kuiper Manufacturing Enterprises LLC is seeking a Network Development Engineer to lead the implementation, maintenance, and optimization of enterprise networks supporting manufacturing facilities, research labs, and launch sites worldwide.

You will ensure high availability, performance, and security of network infrastructure, participate in on-call rotations, and mentor junior engineers while driving automation to reduce manual tasks.

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of major internet routing protocols experience.
  • 4+ years of Linux/Unix environment experience.
  • Proficiency in automation scripting (Python/Bash/Shell/Perl).

As a Network Development Engineer at Amazon Leo, you will lead the implementation, maintenance, and optimization of mission-critical enterprise networks supporting our manufacturing facilities, research labs, launch sites, and mission operations centers worldwide. You will ensure high availability, performance, and security of network infrastructure across multiple global locations.

Key job responsibilities
  • Deployment and ongoing maintenance of complex network solutions in manufacturing and lab environments
  • Ensure robust network operations supporting launch and mission activities
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex routing, interconnectivity, and performance issues
  • Develop and maintain operational procedures and technical documentation
  • Lead capacity planning and performance optimization initiatives
  • Enhance and manage monitoring and alerting systems for proactive issue detection
  • Mentor junior engineers on operational best practices and troubleshooting techniques
  • Drive automation initiatives to streamline repetitive tasks and improve efficiency
  • Participate in on-call rotation for critical infrastructure support
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure network reliability for mission-critical operations
A day in the life

Your day begins reviewing network monitoring alerts across manufacturing facilities and mission operations centers. You'll analyze traffic patterns and capacity needs for the factory floor while planning network expansion for new lab spaces. You will participate in the deployment of network solutions for upcoming launch sites, contract manufacturing partners, and testing facilities. You will coordinate with vendors on WAN circuit installations, troubleshoot routing issues affecting production systems, and mentor team members on complex network deployments. You'll participate in change management meetings, schedule maintenance windows, and document network modifications. Throughout the day, you'll handle escalations from manufacturing teams, validate network security controls, and ensure high availability across all sites. The role requires balancing immediate operational needs with strategic planning and improvement of processes and procedures in order to maintain network reliability for mission-critical operations.

Basic Qualifications
  • 4+ years of major internet routing protocols experience
  • 4+ years of working in a Linux/Unix environment experience
Preferred Qualifications
  • 1+ years of automation scripting using Python, Bash, Shell and/or Perl experience

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
