Job summary

Niku Steakhouse, part of Omakase Restaurant Group, is hiring for an AM Commis to join the Michelin-star back of house team in San Francisco. The role focuses on growth, learning, and pride in your work under pressure.

The candidate will contribute to high standards, collaborate across kitchen sections, and help execute new recipes with the Head and Sous Chefs. This is a full-time, non-exempt kitchen position at a premier steakhouse.

Qualifications

• 3+ years kitchen experience in a high-volume, fine dining setting (Michelin-star level preferred)
• Strong knowledge of culinary techniques (savory and pastry)
• Excellent attention to detail and artistic skills for food presentation
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, multi-tasking to meet deadlines
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and holidays

Responsibilities

• Oversee the preparation and cooking of all items on the prep list
• Ensure dishes are prepared to high quality and consistency standards
• Coordinate with kitchen sections to maintain smooth workflow
• Prepare ingredients according to recipes and high standards
• Maintain mise en place and cleanliness in your section
• Manage inventory levels and minimize waste
• Conduct tastings to ensure consistency and excellence
• Train and mentor junior chefs and kitchen staff
• Assist in development of new recipes with Head/Sous Chef
• Stay updated on industry trends and bring fresh ideas
