Job summary

The University of Chicago Advancement team seeks an Associate Director to lead regional alumni engagement and volunteer programs from Chicago and across regions. The role focuses on designing experiences that deepen alumni connection, grow participation, and support fundraising priorities.

You will manage a portfolio of communities, collaborate with campus partners, travel to regions, and build a culture of philanthropy through data-driven programs and strong stakeholder relations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; five years of nonprofit/alumni engagement experience preferred.
• Experience managing volunteer relationships and fundraising programs.
• Strong ability to apply data and metrics to guide strategy.
• Excellent communication and customer service mindset.

Responsibilities

• Develops and implements strategic plans for regional alumni communities with measurable engagement goals.
• Serves as liaison to diverse alumni groups and manages volunteer leadership across regions.
• Partners with campus leadership to recruit, train, and steward volunteer leaders.
• Manages events, communications/marketing, and budgets; travels to assigned regions.
• Collaborates with University partners to maximize impact of programs for alumni, students, parents, and friends.
