Job summary

The University of Michigan seeks a CSE Alumni Relations Manager to develop and implement strategies that engage and cultivate relationships with CSE alumni. You will manage events, volunteer opportunities, and board interactions, while coordinating with communications teams to keep alumni informed and involved.

You will work with the Alumni Association and College partners to measure impact and drive ongoing engagement across regional and virtual platforms.

Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree: Required, preferably in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Higher Education Administration, or a related field.
  • 1-3 years of experience in alumni relations, constituent engagement, project management, marketing, or high-level event management.
  • Proven experience supporting or coordinating an advisory board or similar leadership committee.
  • 1-3 years experience working within a higher education setting.
  • Ability to manage the full lifecycle of an event from conceptualizing a regional networking mixer to executing a complex homecoming weekend.
  • Intermediate skills in social media management, email marketing platforms and CRM databases
  • Exceptional writing skills for newsletters, web copy, and executive summaries for board meetings.
  • Ability to interpret engagement metrics (open rates, attendance trends, conversion from student to active alum) to prove ROI to leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Actively engage with CSE alumni and the CSE student community through the Division's social media, website, and other channels; take responsibility for advertising and maintaining events and activities through these channels.
  • Develop programming for events to engage alumni.
  • Develop and implement volunteer opportunities for CSE alumni.
  • Facilitate nominations and the selection process for alumni awards.
  • Leverage existing programs and opportunities for CSE alumni through the Alumni Association, the College's Alumni Engagement team, and other partners.
  • Participate in the College of Engineering alumni engagement community of practice.
  • Track and evaluate the success of alumni engagement efforts through metrics, such as event attendance, participation rates, and alumni feedback.
  • Proactively engage with department leadership on alumni feedback and plans.
  • Assist with coordination of the meetings and activities of the CSE National Advisory Board. Coordinate with the board on matters pertaining to alumni relations.
  • Manage the communications and logistics required to plan and implement board meetings.
  • Manage follow-up actions from board meetings.
  • Develop engagements to encourage graduating students to picture themselves as alums.
  • Collaborate with the CSE and the College's communications & marketing teams to feature alumni and keep alumni informed of the Division's news, events, and opportunities.
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned by department leadership.

Job Summary
