Senior Director of Alumni Engagement and Reunion Giving

STATUS

Exempt

SCHEDULE

12 Months, Full time, 40 hours per week. Normal business hours are M-F, 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. but it will also include weekends and evenings. Additional hours outside of these times will be required for events and some travel. This is an on-campus role and will require time for on campus alumni engagement and giving related events, meetings and projects.

Salisbury School is an all-boys private boarding school in New England’s Litchfield County. Our campus is located on 725 acres in northwest Connecticut, and features two main academic buildings, 10 residences and several state-of-the-art athletics and arts facilities. Our all-boys boarding school is located near New York, with less than a two-hour drive from the NYC metro area. Salisbury School is also within easy distance of Boston, Albany, Hartford, Greenwich and several other major population centers in the Northeast.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Alumni Associate is a strategic, frontline fundraising and engagement role. This position focuses on driving alumni participation, managing annual giving challenges, and building lifelong connections with younger alumni cohorts. Working closely under the guidance of the Senior Director, this role executes tactical engagement strategies, manages programmatic milestones, and prepares students for their transition into the alumni network. This Alumni Associate position is designed to last up to two years, with potential opportunities for growth and advancement within the development office, based on current needs.

Additional responsibilities include coaching for two seasons, dorm duty multiple days per month, team duty one week per month, the potential for having student advisees, and other duties as assigned.

PRIMARY ROLE & RESPONSIBLITIES
  • Drive annual giving strategies specifically targeting young alumni and recent graduates.
  • Plan, execute, and market time-sensitive giving challenges and targeted giving campaigns.
  • Manage day-to-day operations of annual giving appeals for non-reunion alumni cohorts.
  • Identify and qualify emerging leadership prospects to move up the giving pipeline.
Programmatic Engagement & Milestones
  • Direct and execute Sixth Form (senior class) engagement and graduation giving projects.
  • Build programs that successfully transition current students into active, giving alumni.
  • Assist in designing and implementing localized regional alumni events and networking opportunities.
  • Produce content and updates for the quarterly alumni and volunteer newsletter.
  • Assist the Senior Director in supporting Class Agents and the Alumni Leadership Council.
  • Provide volunteers with fundraising data, outreach templates, and communication tools.
  • Coordinate logistics, tracking, and operational tasks for quarterly committee meetings.
  • Serve as a core operational lead for the planning and execution of Reunion Weekend.
Preferred Skills/Experience
  • A bachelor’s degree is preferred.
  • Proven success in managing a fundraising program and experience in making direct solicitations.
  • Must be able to work and communicate effectively, orally and in writing, with a broad range of internal and external constituents including colleagues, students, alumni, parents, & friends of Salisbury School.
  • Proficiency in Raiser’s Edge, Google applications, Microsoft Office Suite

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain the CT Public Passenger driving endorsement.

  • Must have excellent organizational and planning skills, creativity, and attention to detail & accuracy.
  • Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
  • Must have the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Must be able to follow written and oral instructions.
  • Must maintain a high degree of professionalism.
  • Must demonstrate ability to use good judgment and to handle confidential information with a high level of sensitivity ensuring the privacy of donors and prospects.
  • Must be able to travel to visit alumni and travel to events.
  • Must have patience, tact, and enthusiasm when dealing with alumni, personnel, students, & families.
  • Must be proficient in composition of written communication.
PHYSICAL & SENSORY REQUIREMENTS (with or without the aid of a mechanical device)
  • Must function independently and be able to move intermittently throughout the workday.
  • Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.
  • Must be able to operate a motor vehicle.
  • Must possess sight/hearing senses or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately so that the requirements of this position can be fully met.
  • Must be able to work in person, on campus.
  • Must be flexible and willing to adapt to new technology and/or schedules.
  • Must function independently.
  • Must be able to lift, push, pull, and move equipment, supplies, etc., without restrictions.
