Job summary

Valmont Industries is seeking a Welding Assistant 1 for the Aluminum Welding Department on the 2nd shift. This role involves assisting in welding aluminum components, preparing parts, and following blueprints and work orders with arc welding equipment.

You will read drawings, set up materials, and ensure safety and quality standards while operating welding tools and plasma equipment. Teamwork and attention to detail are essential for on-time, defect-free production.

Qualifications

• Able to calculate simple mathematics and interpret shop drawings.
• Read and decipher blueprints and work orders.
• Operating arc welding equipment in aluminum welding environment.
• Maintain PPE and safe working practices.
• Able to operate plasma cutting equipment to burn holes in poles/components.
• Capable of basic maintenance of welding tools and fixtures.

Responsibilities

• Assist in welding metal and/or aluminum components according to layouts, blueprints, or work orders.
• Use plasma machine to burn holes in poles and/or components.
• Determine needed component parts for welders.
• Prepare components for welding by fitting together in ready-to-weld condition.
• Read shop drawings and work orders, and work within tolerances.
• Wear and maintain all required PPE and safety equipment.
