Job Title: Aluminum/Structural Steel Ironworker/Welder

Location: 7851 E Pr Ave, Mesa, AZ 85212

Employment Type: Full-Time, In-person

Compensation: $28 to $38 per hour

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Ironworker - Welder/Erector to join our team. This position is integral to the installation of structural and miscellaneous steel components for commercial buildings, ensuring each project meets our high standards.

Job Responsibilities:

1. Safely position and unite steel girders, columns, and other structural members to form completed structures or structural frameworks.
2. Read specifications and blueprints to determine the locations, quantities, and sizes of materials required.
3. Set up hoisting equipment for raising and placing structural steel members. Use cranes to hoist steel beams, girders, and columns into place, using hand signals and tag lines.
4. Verify alignment and plumbing of steel structures and make corrections to erected structures as needed.
5. Connect columns, beams, and girders with bolts following blueprints using various bolts, nuts, washers, and torquing.
6. Weld structural members with consistent quality and safe work practices by understanding and following layouts, blueprints, and work orders.
7. Identify different types and preparations of materials used in structural welding.
8. Understand proper care in handling materials.
9. Identify and use various types of welding tools, wires, and machines.
10. Troubleshoot by understanding blueprints, identifying issues, and taking corrective actions.
11. Perform initial QA/QC checks on finished work to ensure conformance with specifications.

Qualifications/Requirements:

1. Minimum of 10 years experience with layout, connecting, and rigging.
2. Minimum of three years of experience in structural welding.
3. Ability to pass FCAW and SMAW Certification Tests for structural welders, including 3/8" beveled plate with backing strip, horizontal, vertical, and overhead positions.
4. Proficient in the use of cutting torches, plasma arcs, and cutting machines.
5. Ability to pass non-destructive weld testing (e.g., X-ray, sonogram) is a plus.
6. Ability to work at all heights is required.
7. Ability to read blueprints and interpret symbols and abbreviations.
8. Prior rigging experience, including knowledge of hand signals, rigging gear, inspection, and proper use.
9. NCCER certification is a plus.
