Birdon America, Inc. is seeking a professional Aluminum Welder for our on-site Bayou La Batre shipyard in Alabama. The role focuses on welding aluminum components for hulls, decks and outfitting, reading blueprints, and ensuring high-quality results.

Qualified candidates will have at least 3 years of aluminum welding experience, MIG/TIG proficiency, and a solid understanding of marine fabrication. This is a full-time, on-site position with benefits and a strong safety emphasis.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of experience as an Aluminum Welder.
• Fundamental knowledge in marine or manufacturing industry.
• Proficiency in MIG and/or TIG aluminum welding.
• Knowledge of aluminum alloys commonly used in shipbuilding (e.g., 5083, 5086, 6061).
• Ability to produce quality work with minimum to no rework.
• Excellent math skills with the ability to read a tape measure accurately.
• Understanding of welding distortion control and heat input management.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret blueprints, weld symbols, and ship drawings.
• Fit, tack, and weld assemblies for hulls, decks, superstructures, and outfitting.
• Weld aluminum proficiently.
• Perform rework and repairs as required by QA/QC or inspection results.
• Weld in any position (uphill, horizontal, vertical, or flat).
• Operate power equipment safely and comply with all safety standards.
