Job summary

Pennex is seeking a Machine Operator for our York, PA location. The role involves setting up and operating fabricating machines like brake and punch presses to shape aluminum parts per customer specs.

You’ll read blueprints, adjust controls, and inspect produced pieces for quality. The ideal candidate has a high school diploma and 1–3 years of machine operation experience in manufacturing or warehouse settings, with ability to perform basic math and follow instructions.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to read blueprints.
• Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.
• Ability to perform operations using units of weight, volume, and distance.
• Ability to follow written or oral instructions.
• Ability to handle problems with a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Responsibilities

• Receives press assignments and job duties from shop foreman or supervisor.
• Reads job specifications to determine machine adjustments and material requirements.
• Sets stop of guides to specified length as indicated by scale, rule, or template.
• Positions workpiece against stops or aligns layout marks with die or blade.
• Pushes button or depresses pedal to activate machine.
• Observes machine operation to detect defects or malfunctions.
• Measures workpiece dimensions to determine accuracy of machine operation.
• Packs completed pieces for shipment per customer specifications.
• Completes all paperwork associated with fabricated pieces.
• Weighs scrap material before depositing in containers.
• Performs minor machine maintenance such as oiling the machine, dies, or workpieces.
• Assists other machine operators to set up machines, and stack, mark, and pack finished work pieces.
• Other duties as assigned
