American Access, Inc. seeks a reliable Cut Room Operator to prepare aluminum stock and kit parts for welding and assembly of ramps, platforms, landings, and handrails.

You will read orders, set up multiple cutting machines, and verify tolerances using tape measures and calipers. The role emphasizes waste reduction, accurate counting, and timely deliveries while maintaining a clean, safe shop floor.

Qualifications

• 1+ year of experience in manufacturing, fabrication, or saw operation.
• Ability to read a tape measure to 1/16 inch and read basic drawings/cut lists.
• Basic shop math including fractions, decimals, and angles.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to work at a steady production pace.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and work closely with the welding team.
• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Reliable attendance.

Responsibilities

• Read work orders, cut lists, and drawings to determine material, quantities, lengths, angles, and hole locations.
• Set up and operate cutting equipment, such as cold saws, miter saws, band saws, and upcut saws.
• Operate drilling, punching, notching, or bending equipment as assigned.
• Measure and verify the first piece and ongoing parts with tape measures, squares, protractors, and calipers to hold tolerances.
• Deburr and clean cut edges so parts are ready for welding.
• Label, bundle, and stage cut parts as complete kits for each job, and deliver them to welding stations on schedule.
• Plan cuts to get the most out of each length of stock; save usable remnants and separate aluminum scrap for recycling.
• Record production counts, scrap, and material shortages accurately, and alert the supervisor when stock runs low.
• Change and maintain saw blades; perform routine cleaning, lubrication, and basic maintenance on cut room equipment, and report problems promptly.
• Keep the cut room clean and organized, with stock racked safely and aisles clear.
• Follow all safety rules, lockout/tagout procedures, OSHA requirements, and company policies.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
