Wall Street Careers® is seeking an experienced investment professional to drive the full lifecycle of private markets investments for a major client in New York. You will source, model, negotiate, close, and oversee portfolios while balancing risk, return, and capital efficiency across diverse strategies.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in front-office roles and deep knowledge of private markets, with a proven track record in diligence and relationship management within a lean team.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in economics, finance, accounting, or mathematics.
  • 5+ years in an investment-focused, front-office capacity at a bank, insurer, pension fund, or asset manager.
  • 5+ years working directly with alternative or private market strategies, with a history of growing scope over time.
  • Working knowledge of capital markets and core concepts across private equity and private credit sub-strategies.
  • Background in structuring, monitoring, or evaluating relationships tied to alternative investment portfolios.
  • Exposure to how insurance-affiliated capital gets deployed into private markets is a plus, though not required.
  • A results-driven mindset, adaptability under shifting deadlines, and strong collaboration skills within a lean team.

Responsibilities

  • Drive the full lifecycle of private markets investments, from initial sourcing and financial modeling through legal negotiation, closing, and ongoing oversight.
  • Weigh multiple, sometimes competing, portfolio priorities, such as risk tolerance, return objectives, and efficient use of capital, tailored to each client mandate.
  • Assess opportunities spanning private equity, private credit, secondary transactions, structured credit, tax-advantaged housing funds, and direct co-investment deals.
  • Lead diligence efforts on external managers, working closely with internal investment committee members and subject-matter specialists.
  • Cultivate and grow a network of deal-sourcing relationships, then bring recommendations forward for internal review.
  • Coordinate with legal, compliance, finance, and operations teams to keep documentation, execution, and reporting on track.
  • Build and refine repeatable tracking processes for portfolio performance while staying current on developments across private markets.
