Job summary

Brown Advisory is seeking an Alternative Asset Analyst to manage valuations, reporting and lifecycle activities for private equity, hedge funds and direct investments. You will generate monthly, quarterly, and ad-hoc reports for client and institutional relationships and work with teams to ensure accurate, timely data.

Ideal candidates have 1–3 years in investments, a finance/economics background, and strong Excel skills (macros, VLOOKUP).

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting or economics.
• 1–3 years of experience in investments or asset management.
• Strong Excel skills, including macros and VLOOKUP.
• Demonstrated analytical, evaluative and critical thinking abilities.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative team environment.

Responsibilities

• Independently review, research, assess and update valuations for alternative assets.
• Produce custom analytics for managerial reporting on a regular or ad-hoc basis.
• Partner with investment teams to create new alternative assets with timely reporting.
• Validate statements from fund companies for accuracy.
• Engage custodians, funds, and internal teams to resolve valuation issues, delays and issues.
• Escalate fair-value pricing matters and present documentation to stakeholders.
• Manage ticket queue and align workflow to resolve requests.
• Leverage market knowledge to evaluate pricing data and update systems accordingly.
• Assist onboarding of large client relationships with complex asset holdings.
• Oversee transfers, subscriptions and redemptions.
• Identify control gaps and propose improvements to tools and processes.
• Lead firm-wide and departmental value-add projects for leadership review.
