We are currently seeking an Associate Director to serve as a Program Manager for the Alternate Missions and Space (AMS) portfolio. The AMS portfolio is part of Raytheon’s Advanced Technology Strategic Business Unit and is responsible for developing systems that push the boundaries of the state of the art. Focused on both improving performance and lowering cost, AMS has a broad range of development efforts funded by various DoD customers including the services and research labs. In addition, AMS is involved in IRAD projects that explore new capabilities and applications of our technologies. These efforts play a critical role in expanding the program’s future footprint, strengthening customer alignment, and enabling strategic growth for Raytheon across emerging mission areas. This role is onsite located in Tucson, Arizona.

What You Will Do
  • Work closely with the Alternate Missions and Space Senior Director and Portfolio Director and integrated functional teams to develop new business capture strategies and then lead the capture and management of the resulting projects
  • Lead early engagements with our broad customer set, with a focus on requirements development, shaping, and pre-design
  • Display strong communication and presentation skills with both leadership and external customers
  • Drives long‑term planning and program growth with a strong focus on business development through sustained engagement with Customer Executive Leadership
  • Responsible for shaping 3–5‑year strategic plans, influencing future budget requests and capability needs, and helping define acquisition strategies that position Raytheon for continued success
  • Actively identifies, develops, and advances new business opportunities rooted in the current program’s performance and evolving mission requirements
  • Travel for customer engagements.
Qualifications You Must Have
  • Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and minimum 12 years of prior relevant experience, or an Advanced degree in a related field and minimum 10 years experience
  • Experience leading teams and managing development and production programs
  • Experience managing cost, schedule, and performance for programs with use of program management tools such as Earned Value Management System (EVMS), Integrated Master Plan (IMP), Integrated Master Schedule (IMS), Risk and Opportunity Management, Scope Board, or similar business processes
  • An active and transferable Top Secret U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date with the ability to obtain program access after start
  • Program Management Level 3 or 2 Certification or ability to obtain Level 3 within one year
  • Demonstrated success creating and maintaining strong executive level relationships with suppliers, customers, government representatives, primes and internal peers
  • Experience writing and/or leading responses to solicitations (RFIs, RFPs, etc.), including white papers and proposals
  • Experience leading proposal efforts to include large value (>250M) through corporate level gating processes
  • Experience with contract negotiations and executions with varying contract types (IDIQ, OTA, etc.)
  • Experience leading missile development activities
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and writing skills
  • Well‑organized with the ability to prioritize and manage a high‑mix workload (multiple projects at once)
  • Familiarity with government acquisition process

  • The salary range for this role is 157,200 USD - 298,800 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
