Job summary

Von Maur is seeking an Alterations Associate to join our department store team in Illinois. You will measure, fit, pin, and sew garments to customer specifications, ranging from formal beaded dresses to tailored pieces.

You’ll deliver friendly, reliable service while maintaining a clean work area and handling garments from basic to moderately difficult alterations. The base wage is $17.00–$20.00 per hour, with overtime eligibility and pay determined by qualifications.

Qualifications

• Experience with basic to advanced alterations.
• Ability to measure, fit, mark, and pin garments to customer specifications.
• Competent in repairing damaged or defective merchandise.

Responsibilities

• Own the customer experience – greet people sincerely, be friendly and thank every customer.
• Measure, fit, mark, and pin garments according to customer specifications.
• Disassemble, sew and/or reassemble garments according to measurements taken during fitting – use iron and steamer to prepare garments for customers.
• Repair damaged or defective merchandise.
• Garment work may range from basic to moderately difficult sewing/alteration procedures.
• Maintain a clean department and work area.
