Role Overview
The Alterations Customer Service Representative (CSR) is vital for the success of our Alterations department, providing superior customer service. Responsibilities include welcoming customers, scheduling appointments, answering phones, pressing garments, and preparing items for pickup. The CSR reports to the Store Manager.
Essential Job Functions
- Greet customers warmly in person, over the phone, and via virtual chats, demonstrating clear communication and problem-solving skills.
- Manage customer flow using all systems to deliver a five-star experience.
- Meet service standards: Prepare, Welcome, Meet Needs, and Be There for customers, including operational tasks and emotional support.
- Provide exceptional service to multiple customers simultaneously, address concerns proactively, and escalate issues when necessary.
- Explain the role of alterations in perfecting dresses and promote all alteration services and personalization options.
- Maintain store standards—cleanliness, organization, promotional readiness, and store recovery.
- Greet and escort customers for appointments, perform garment pressing, steaming, and spot cleaning.
- Ensure quality control by inspecting garments before delivery.
- Build long-term customer relationships to enhance satisfaction and loyalty.
- Assist with inventory management, processing orders, and ensuring merchandise quality.
- Process transactions accurately, support cash wrap activities, and ensure customers feel celebrated.
- Seek assistance from the Alterations Manager for unresolved issues.
- Keep the alterations room clean and organized.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Physical Demands
- Stand, walk, sit, reach, climb stairs, stoop, kneel, crouch, and move throughout the store as needed.
- Use hands and arms for tasks like steaming garments, using POS systems, and sewing if necessary.
- Lift up to 10 pounds.
- Have good vision and manual dexterity for detailed work and long periods of computer and device use.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 1-2 years retail experience, preferably in apparel or a specialty store.
- Prior sewing experience is helpful.
- Experience with POS systems.
