Job summary

London Borough of Bexley is recruiting an experienced Housing Allocations Assessment Officer to join a small, high‑impact team within the Housing Department. You will manage the Housing Register, assess eligibility and make nominations to partner Housing Associations, ensuring decisions are fair and compliant with legislation and local policy.

This hybrid role requires collaboration, clear communication, and a commitment to excellent customer service, with two days per week in the Civic Offices.

Job description

The Housing Allocations Assessment Officer role sits within a small but key team based, within the wider Housing Department.

We are looking for a candidate who is passionate about delivering a professional, customer focused, high quality housing service that is underpinned by legislation and local policy.

You will be energetic and an excellent communicator, working effectively as part of a team that continually looks for simple and effective ways to keep customers informed about matters that are important to them.

You will bring a high level of personal integrity and resilience and contribute to a team known for delivering on its commitments. The role involves maintaining the Council's Housing Register, assessing customer eligibility, and making appropriate nominations to partner Housing Associations.

This is a hybrid role and the successful applicant will be expected to work from the Civic Offices a minimum of two days per week.

Whilst experience in a relevant housing role is desirable, we will also consider applicants with transferable skills who can demonstrate a genuine passion for developing a career in housing.
