Job summary

The South Bend Clinic is seeking a Medical Assistant in the Allergy department at the Eddy Street Campus—211 N. Eddy Street, South Bend, IN 46617.

This role is 40 hours weekly, Monday–Friday, 8:00 am–5:00 pm, with patient-centered responsibilities including triage, procedure support, documentation, and insurance verification in Epic. Candidates may be a Certified Medical Assistant or non-certified with related experience.

Qualifications

• Certified Medical Assistant or non-certified with related experience.

Responsibilities

• Provides ongoing triage and manages office flow to meet patients' medical and service needs.
• Performs the technical component of department’s clinical procedures.
• Documents patient care thoroughly and accurately per guidelines.
• Communicates patient care clearly and concisely.
• Greets patients professionally and rooms them per protocol.
• Maintains logs for equipment (refrigerator temp, autoclave, eyewash, crash cart).
• Verifies insurance for pre-certifications/referrals in Epic.
• Applies general insurance guidelines to direct patient care.
• Responds appropriately to emergency situations.
• Cross trains in other positions as determined by manager.
• Demonstrates The South Bend Clinic Service Standards.
• Performs other duties as assigned; adheres to HIPAA guidelines.
