Job summary

Quest Global in Houston, TX is seeking a skilled PLC Programmer with Allen‑Bradley experience to support on-site automation projects. You will develop, troubleshoot, and maintain PLC programs and participate in commissioning activities to ensure reliable plant operations.

The role requires hands-on work with ControlLogix/CompactLogix, RSLogix 500 / Studio 5000, and FactoryTalk, plus travel to sites as needed.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or Associate degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, Mechatronics, or related field
3+ years of hands‑on experience with Allen‑Bradley PLC programming
Strong knowledge of RSLogix 500 / Studio 5000 (Logix Designer)
Experience with HMI/SCADA development (FactoryTalk preferred)
Solid understanding of industrial automation systems and control theory
Ability to work on‑site independently and handle troubleshooting under pressure
Travel to sites and stay to complete the work
Familiarity with industrial networking and system integration

Responsibilities

Develop, modify, and troubleshoot PLC programs using Allen‑Bradley platforms (ControlLogix, CompactLogix, MicroLogix)
Configure and maintain HMI/SCADA systems (FactoryTalk View or equivalent)
Perform on‑site commissioning, startup, and testing of automation systems
Debug and resolve issues related to PLC logic, I/O systems, and communication networks
Integrate PLCs with field devices such as transmitters, switches, valves, motors, VFDs, and actuators
Work with industrial communication protocols (EtherNet/IP, DeviceNet, Modbus)
Read and interpret electrical schematics, P&IDs, and control system documentation
Collaborate with engineering, maintenance, and operations teams over calls, Zoom and in‑person meetings.
Ensure compliance with safety standards and industry’s best practices
Provide documentation, including technical reports, program backups, and change logs
