Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in algorithm engineering or a related field.
  • Strong math skills, especially in linear algebra and statistics.
  • Experience with data collection, grading, algorithm development, and evaluation.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and optimize algorithms for Gentex products across Automotive, Aerospace, Fire Protection, and more.
  • Collaborate with software and hardware teams to implement algorithms in products and concepts.
  • Implement testing procedures to evaluate performance, accuracy, and efficiency.
  • Debug and troubleshoot issues as they arise.
  • Work with large datasets to analyze performance and accuracy in real-world scenarios.
  • Take end-to-end responsibility from design to deployment and monitoring.
  • Continuously optimize algorithms for performance, resources, and scalability.
  • Identify ways to improve efficiency in product development and manufacturing.
  • Learn new subjects quickly to contribute to complex problems.
  • Contribute to data collection, analysis, and evaluation of results.
  • Assist other teams with algorithm development for products and processes.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Join a company driven by quality products across an evolving range of industries. **POSITION OVERVIEW**The Algorithm Engineer II is responsible for development and optimization of algorithms for Gentex products. The Algorithm Engineer II will contribute to the development and improvement of Gentex technology by engaging in research and development, testing, and evaluation of novel technologies, processes, and/or applications, with an emphasis on classical algorithm development.**Location**: This position requires on-site work at Gentex facilities. This role is not eligible for remote work.**WHAT YOU’LL DO*** Develop and optimize algorithms for Gentex products across Automotive, Aerospace, Fire Protection, and other areas.* Collaborate with Software and Hardware Development Teams to create and implement algorithms in Gentex products and concepts.* Implement testing procedures to evaluate algorithm performance, accuracy, and efficiency. Debug and troubleshoot issues as they arise.* Work with large datasets to analyze performance and ensure the accuracy of algorithms in real-world scenarios.* Solve challenging, large-scale problems with cutting-edge techniques, ensuring the scalability, efficiency, and accuracy of algorithms.* Take full responsibility for end-to-end algorithm development, from initial design and prototype creation to final deployment and monitoring.* Continuously optimize algorithms for performance, resource usage, and scalability, ensuring that they meet the company’s standards and requirements.* Identify ways to improve the efficiency of Gentex processes throughout product development and manufacturing.* Quickly learn new subject matter to be able to contribute to solving complex problems.* Contribute to the process of data collection, analysis, and evaluation of results.* Contribute to other groups needing assistance with algorithm development for products, concepts, and processes.* Other duties as assigned.**HOW YOU’LL DO IT*** Cultivating innovation - Creating new and better ways for the organization to be successful.* Optimizing work processes - Knowing the most effective and efficient processes to get things done, with a focus on continuous improvement.* Foster teamwork – Building effective partnerships and working collaboratively with others to meet shared objectives.* Planning and aligning - Planning and prioritizing work to meet commitments aligned with organizational goals.* Communicating Effectively - Developing and delivering multi-mode communications that convey clear understanding, taking into account the unique needs of different audiences.* Quality focus – Promoting and maintaining high standards of work, looking for ways to improve products and services, while encouraging coworkers to do so as well.* Maintaining a high level of honesty, integrity, and confidentiality with respect to company matters.* Complying with all Company policies and procedures, safety regulations, company safety policies and safely perform all duties**,** including but not limited to, promoting a safe workplace.**WHAT TO BRING*** Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, or related field.* 2+ years of experience in algorithm engineering or a related field.* Strong math skills, especially in linear algebra and statistics.* Experience with all aspects of workflow including data collection, grading, algorithm development, and evaluation.* Experience with C/C++, Python, or MATLAB.* Experience with signal processing, image processing, and working with time-series data.* Strong communication skills to clearly translate an algorithm into a work product usable by another team.**WHAT WILL HELP*** Experience in Automotive, Aerospace, Fire Protection, or a related industry.* Familiarity with optimization techniques (e.g., gradient descent, Newton’s Method, dynamic programming).* Experience in software development lifecycle, version control systems (e.g., Git), and agile methodologies.* Experience using the Linux command-line interface.* Experience with embedded software.* Familiarity with using development kits.* Familiarity with development using FPGA.* Familiarity with camera ISP pipeline concepts.
