Job summary

Mercor seeks experts in atomic layer deposition and thin‑film processes to support AI research for semiconductors and physical sciences. You will generate, structure, and evaluate scientific data to guide how models reason about deposition and processing.

This is hands‑on, expert‑level work requiring precision in scientific reasoning. Engagement is long‑term, remote in the US, with up to 40 hours/week (minimum 10).

Qualifications

  • Hands-on ALD process development and troubleshooting experience.
  • Deep knowledge of thin-film deposition for semiconductor applications.
  • Strong understanding of precursor chemistry and surface reactions.
  • Experience with materials characterization techniques (XRD, SEM, TEM, XPS, ellipsometry).
  • Advanced degree or equivalent hands-on experience in related fields.
  • Clear written English with ability to explain technical reasoning.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute domain expertise across ALD and thin-film processes to build data.
  • Review AI-generated reasoning for accuracy and quality.
  • Design and solve expert-level ALD and semiconductor processing problems.
  • Rank model outputs against scientific criteria with written reasoning.
  • Structure process parameters and results into model-ready data.
  • Deliver reliable work within defined timelines.
