DESCRIPTION OF WORK
As a Drug & Alcohol Prevention Program Specialist, duties will entail the following:
- Conduct presentations to community groups to develop awareness of drug and alcohol problems.
- Provide students with the latest drug and alcohol information.
- Assist schools in starting prevention programs.
- Introduce the state-recommended drug and alcohol curriculum to school districts by contacting superintendents, curriculum directors, and parent groups.
- Conduct presentations on drug and alcohol topics to parent groups, elementary and high school classes, and driver education classes.
- Distribute pamphlets to physicians regarding Fetal Alcohol Syndrome to raise awareness of alcohol consumption during pregnancy.
- Present general information talks on drug and alcohol topics to churches, senior citizen groups, fraternal organizations, youth groups, and PTOs.
- Train resident advisors from local colleges on recognizing and referring students with drug and alcohol problems.
- Organize youth prevention groups involving community projects and social activities to channel potential drug and alcohol abusers positively.
Work Schedule and Additional Information
- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Telework: This position does not offer telework options.
- Salary: Starting salary may be non-negotiable in some cases.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year experience as a Drug and Alcohol Prevention Specialist; or
- Bachelor's Degree in Health Education, Education, or Social/Behavioral Sciences with two years of relevant experience; or
- Equivalent experience and training.

- Pass a background investigation.
- Compliance with Child Protective Services Law, including submission of criminal history reports and clearances.
