Job summary

NANA Construction seeks an experienced Marine Operations Superintendent to coordinate the daily tug, barge, cargo handling, and shoreside activities of the Civil and Marine Division across Alaska, including remote communities. The Superintendent reports to the Marine Operations Manager to ensure safe and efficient operations.

They direct vessels, crews, and freight while working with captains, engineers, and logistics providers.

Qualifications

• US.Coast Guard Merchant Mariner Credential with a relevant deck officer or towing vessel endorsement.
• Experience with Subchapter M and towing safety management systems.
• Five (5) years of tug and barge, marine transportation, or marine construction operations experience, including two (2) years in a supervisory or operational leadership role.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate daily vessel assignments, voyage schedules, mobilizations, demobilizations, and startup/layup activities.
• Plan operations around cargo requirements, vessel capacity, landing conditions, weather, tides, river levels, and project priorities.
• Coordinate reef with civil project teams, customers, and logistics providers to deliver safe, efficient operations.
• Supervise assigned marine and shoreside personnel; manage staffing, rotations, and training; review time records and staff needs.
• Coordinate freight staging, loading plans, cargo securing, and delivery documentation; ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
