SouthEast Alaska Regional Health Consortium (SEARHC) is seeking an ophthalmologist to provide comprehensive medical and surgical eye care across outpatient and surgical settings in Southeast Alaska. The role includes evaluations, diagnosis, and treatment, with collaboration among SEARHC providers and optometrists throughout the consortium.

The position involves potential travel to field clinic sites, ongoing education, and active participation in quality initiatives to advance ophthalmology

Qualifications

• Requires completion of bachelor’s degree, medical school, and accredited ophthalmology residency.
• Active Alaska medical license.
• Board certified or eligible.
• BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Provides comprehensive ophthalmology medical and surgical services to SEARHC patients, including evaluations, clinical analysis, diagnosis, surgery, and treatment.
• Evaluates and treats patients with ophthalmological conditions including glaucoma, retinal or corneal issues, macular degeneration, and related pathologies.
• Performs ophthalmology surgeries (e.g., cataract and retinal procedures) within facility capabilities.
• Collaborates with optometrists and other healthcare professionals for multidisciplinary patient care.
• Participates in quality assessment and improvement initiatives and continual education.
• Develops educational programs for SEARHC medical staff on ophthalmology topics.
