Job summary

STG Inc. seeks a Heavy Equipment Operator to work on Prince of Wales Island, AK. You will operate and maintain heavy machinery, support civil construction, and assist with site preparation and material handling in challenging Alaskan conditions.

The role requires strong safety discipline, the ability to work long hours in rural locations, and collaboration with a multi-trade team. Local hire preferences apply and housing is not provided.

Qualifications

• Five (5) or more years of related construction experience, preferably equipment operation in rural Alaska or Arctic environments.
• Valid state driver’s license and ability to operate a vehicle under company policy.
• Ability to pass drug, driving and background screenings.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy construction equipment safely and efficiently in support of civil projects.
• Perform routine preventative maintenance and basic repairs as needed.
• Read grade stakes and basic plans to follow work instructions.
• Prepare sites, grade, trench, load/unload materials, and clean as required.
• Maintain strict safety standards and report hazards or incidents promptly.
• Collaborate with multiple trades to ensure safe, on-time project execution.
• Complete required logs, reports, and documentation for project management.
