Job summary

State of Alaska is seeking a Mining Engineer 2 to write and maintain wastewater discharge and solid waste permits for mine facilities across Alaska. The role requires technical expertise in mining engineering, compliance with the Clean Water Act, and guidance to management on policy matters.

Travel within the state is expected, with offices in Anchorage, Soldotna, Wasilla, Fairbanks, and Juneau. A Professional Engineer license and Alaska residency are mandatory, with remote/telework options

Qualifications

• Professional Engineer license (Alaska or comity within one year)
• Alaska resident eligibility required
• Valid Alaska Driver's License required

Responsibilities

• Write and maintain wastewater discharge and solid waste management permits for mine facilities
• Serve as a technical expert on mining and mine engineering issues
• Understand and apply state and federal laws including the Clean Water Act and Alaska Pollutant Discharge Elimination System
• Advise management on policy issues related to your expertise
