Job summary

Golden Valley Electric Association is seeking an Energy Management Specialist in Fairbanks, Alaska to help members understand and optimize their energy use and engage with energy programs. You will analyze usage, offer efficiency recommendations, and assist with rates, net metering, and related programs while supporting community outreach and long-range planning.

The position starts at $33.97 per hour, DOE, Grade 9, with strong benefits including a defined pension, 401(k) match, health and life

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, environmental sciences, community planning, business development, or related field; equivalent education and experience considered.
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills.
  • Knowledge of energy efficiency, renewable energy, or electric utility operations.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Ability to analyze data and manage multiple projects.
  • Valid Alaska driver's license.
  • Energy Manager in Training or Energy Efficiency Practitioner certification, or ability to obtain within six months (Certified Energy Manager or Energy Auditor preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Analyze energy usage for members and provide efficiency recommendations.
  • Assist with questions about rates, billing, net metering, and energy programs.
  • Support community outreach through presentations, events and educational programs.
  • Contribute to long-range planning and evaluate emerging technologies and trends.
