Job summary

State of Alaska is seeking an Accounting Technician 3 to ensure timely and accurate retirement benefit payments. Responsibilities include warrant control for payroll, tax remittance, EFT recall entries, and garnishment payments, with emphasis on accuracy and compliance.

This role offers a potential hybrid telework option after a probation period, with residency required within commuting distance of Juneau. Experience with IRIS and ALDER is preferred.

Qualifications

• Two years of technical level accounting or bookkeeping experience, at least one year full-proficiency.
• Certification as an Accounting Technician may substitute for one year at the non-full-proficiency level.
• Post secondary education with accounting coursework can substitute for experience per policy.
• Associate’s degree can substitute for two years of experience under specified credit hours.

Responsibilities

• Warrant control for payroll processing.
• Prepare federal income tax remittance.
• Process journal entries for EFT recalls, stale dated warrants, health premiums and returned benefits.
• Remit garnishment withholding payments and perform accounting reconciliations.
