Work Schedule: 8AM - 5PM

Job Summary:

Perform scheduled maintenance on all fire alarms, security alarms, fire sprinkler alarm systems and respond to all emergency alarms as needed. Repair work on fire and security systems.

Perform semi-annual and annual testing of the campus fire alarm systems.

Regularly stands, lifts, bends, stoops, lifts above shoulders and carries 50 lbs or more. Regular exposure to disagreeable conditions, extreme temperature changes, odors and loud noises.

Must be able to perform snow and ice removal tasks and respond at any time of the day or night when scheduled by management regardless of weather conditions. Some irregular and extra hours as needed for projects and emergencies. Emergencies frequently involve difficult working conditions. This may require work during non-business hours (evenings, weekends, & when OSU is closed).

Employee in this position is required to be on rotating standby for emergencies and/or any other event after 5 p.m. on weekdays, weekends and holidays. Employee in this position is required to work overtime when work requires. Employee in this position is required to work shift work when work can’t be accomplished during regular hours, and when the management staff deems necessary.

Appropriate PPE (personal protective equipment), gloves, safety glasses, etc. are provided for use in the workplace. Must adhere to all safety requirements and promote work safety.

Education & Experience

Minimum Qualifications:

High School/GED

One year of related work experience or Vocational/Technical degree

Have before hire and maintain after hire a valid driver's license. A valid driver's license must be maintained for the operation of an OSU vehicle, which is required in the performance of job duties as assigned.

Basic mechanical ability and skills, basic electrical knowledge and electronic skills, ability to get along with others, basic report writing ability. Must be able to pass respirator fit test.

Ability to become proficient in the use of “AiM” Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) software and the use of mobile technology. Must work safely and promote a safe work environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

Vocational/Technical degree in Safety Technology or Basic Electronics.

Two years of alarm installation experience OR Vocational/technical degree and one year of alarm installation or repair experience.

Ability to work on Simplex, Notifier, Siemens fire alarm and security systems.
