Job summary

Allied Fire Protection is seeking a Fire Protection Helper who is willing to travel. The role supports foremen in installing and servicing automatic fire sprinkler and fire alarm systems across residential, commercial, and industrial sites. A valid driver's license and ability to travel are required.

You will learn to read blueprints, thread pipes, and assist with equipment on job sites while maintaining safety and quality standards. This position may require overtime or travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum education of High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• 1 year of experience as a fire sprinkler, fire alarm, or construction helper preferred.
• Must have valid state driver's license and good driving record.

Responsibilities

• Assist foreman and fitter with installation, service, and troubleshooting of fire sprinkler and fire alarm systems.
• Assist with installation of systems in residential, commercial, and industrial buildings.
• Read project drawings to interpret requirements and layout.
• Maintain clean work area and proper inventory management.
• Submit timely timesheets and travel pay documentation.
• Work overtime, out-of-town, or on-call as needed.
• Prioritize safety and adhere to company SOPs.

FIRE PROTECTION HELPER - TRAVEL REQUIRED

JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Learn by paying attention and participating with all that is being asked within all aspects of the fire sprinkler and fire alarm trade
• Assist foreman and/or fitter with installation, service, and trouble-shooting of automatic fire sprinkler systems along with all its related equipment for fire alarm installation support
• Assist foreman and/or fitter with installation of fire sprinkler or fire alarm systems in residential, commercial, and industrial buildings
• Learn and use project drawings to accurately and entirely interpret and installation requirement details and layout as needed
• Learn to thread and groove pipe, cut hanger rods, frequently climb ladders, hang pipe, read blueprints, layout, keep clean work area, and use appropriate equipment for any specific job such as tools, lifts, etc.

• Ensure all required documents are complete, accurate and professional, with required signatures
• Ensure proper Inventory Management – review, update, and approve packing slips – submitted timely, proper material management
• Ensure proper Maintenance and care of equipment – trucks, lifts, tools, etc.
• Keep jobsites clean and organized
• Ensure Production Efficiency – awareness of budget vs. actual labor hours and proactive communication with superintendent
• Support and Ensure Adherence to Company SOPs – Purchase Orders, Change Orders, etc.
• Timeliness – at the job on time; attendance; communication with supervisor; paperwork
• Ensure Customer Satisfaction and respond to Customer Satisfaction Survey feedback improvement opportunities
• Maintain Quality Control i.e. reduce the need for return trips and warranty work
• Maintain a Professional appearance
• Communicate effectively and professionally within the department and with internal and external customers
• Teamwork – maintain positive interactions within your team, local office, etc.
• Actively Participate in required team meetings

Knowledge:

• Basic Math and Reading

Work Experience:

• 1 year of experience as a fire sprinkler, fire alarm,or construction-related helper, preferred
