Job summary

Allied Fire Protection seeks a Fire Protection Helper to support foremen in installing, servicing, and trouble-shooting automatic fire sprinkler and fire alarm systems across residential, commercial, and industrial sites.

Candidates will learn to interpret project drawings, thread and groove pipe, and read blueprints while maintaining safety and clean work areas. A valid driver’s license and strong attention to detail are essential.

Qualifications

• Must be able to take direction from upper management.
• Must have valid state driver's license and good driving record.
• Self-motivated, ambitious, interactive, communicative, detail-oriented and organized.
• Demonstrate ability to accurately read measurements from tape or scales.

Responsibilities

• Assist foreman with installation, service, and troubleshooting of automatic fire sprinkler systems and related equipment.
• Read project drawings to interpret installation requirements and layouts.
• Learn to thread and groove pipe, cut hanger rods, climb ladders, hang pipe and read blueprints.
• Keep work area clean and ensure safety practices are followed.

• Assist foreman and/or fitter with installation, service, and trouble-shooting of automatic fire sprinkler systems along with all its related equipment for fire alarm installation support
• Assist foreman and/or fitter with installation of fire sprinkler or fire alarm systems in residential, commercial, and industrial buildings
• Learn and use project drawings to accurately and entirely interpret and installation requirement details and layout as needed
• Learn to thread and groove pipe, cut hanger rods, frequently climb ladders, hang pipe, read blueprints, layout, keep clean work area, and use appropriate equipment for any specific job such as tools, lifts, etc.
• Other duties as assigned

• Ensure proper Inventory Management – review, update, and approve packing slips – submitted timely, proper material management
• Ensure proper Maintenance and care of equipment – trucks, lifts, tools, etc.
• Keep jobsites clean and organized
• Ensure Production Efficiency – awareness of budget vs. actual labor hours and proactive communication with superintendent
• Support and Ensure Adherence to Company SOPs – Purchase Orders, Change Orders, etc.
• Timeliness – at the job on time; attendance; communication with supervisor; paperwork
• Ensure Customer Satisfaction and respond to Customer Satisfaction Survey feedback improvement opportunities
• Maintain Quality Control i.e. reduce the need for return trips and warranty work
• Maintain a Professional appearance
• Communicate effectively and professionally within the department and with internal and external customers
• Teamwork – maintain positive interactions within your team, local office, etc.
• Actively Participate in required team meetings
• Ability to work overtime, out of town or on-call as needed

Knowledge

• Basic Math and Reading
• Minimum education of High School Diploma or Equivalent

Work Experience

• 1 year of experience as a fire sprinkler, fire alarm, or construction-related helper, preferred
