Key Responsibilities:
- Laundry Processing:
- Collect, sort, and wash linens, towels, and residents’ personal clothing according to facility protocols.
- Operate washing machines, dryers, and other laundry equipment safely and efficiently.
- Ensure laundry is washed, dried, and folded in a timely manner, paying attention to specific care instructions (e.g., delicate items or special laundry needs).
- Iron and press clothing and linens as necessary to ensure neat appearance.
- Linen and Laundry Distribution:
- Deliver clean linens and clothing to resident rooms and designated areas, ensuring that each resident receives their personal laundry items.
- Monitor and stock linen closets and supply areas to ensure an adequate supply of clean linens is available at all times.
- Collect soiled linens from resident rooms, common areas, and designated locations throughout the facility.
- Maintain Laundry Equipment and Supplies:
- Regularly clean and maintain laundry equipment, ensuring it is in good working condition.
- Report any equipment malfunctions or safety concerns to the maintenance department promptly.
- Monitor inventory of laundry supplies, including detergent, fabric softeners, and other cleaning products, and notify the supervisor when supplies need to be replenished.
- Infection Control and Safety:
- Follow established protocols for handling soiled and contaminated laundry, adhering to infection control policies and procedures.
- Ensure that laundry handling, washing, and drying processes meet health and safety regulations to minimize the risk of infection.
- Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when handling soiled laundry and during cleaning tasks.
- Resident and Staff Interaction:
- Interact professionally and courteously with residents and staff, ensuring their laundry needs are met in a timely and respectful manner.
- Address any resident concerns regarding their laundry or personal items and resolve issues as needed.
- Ensure residents’ clothing is labeled properly to prevent mix-ups and that personal laundry is returned to the correct resident.
Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Experience: Previous experience in a laundry or housekeeping role, especially in a healthcare or long-term care setting, is preferred but not required.
- Skills:
- Attention to detail, especially when handling personal items and maintaining laundry cleanliness.
- Ability to operate laundry equipment safely and efficiently.
- Good time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team.
